Program Interface and Word Count

I think developing a simple program that we log into with our qt username, that would be used as Express Scribe is (with the vm files loading automatically just like on the web interface) with a hotkey to pause and a hotkey for submitting file would be great. We'd work more efficiently.

When I'm typing a vm I just wish I could hit a button on my keyboard to pause quicktime and another to submit the file. Also, it takes time to click into the box to start typing, just moving the mouse to the right area (for the pausing and submitting especially) takes up time. And at least with the newest version of Firefox I usually end up having to click out of the box, hit a random key and then click into the box and start typing or else nothing I type goes into the box.

I completely agree! I find myself hitting the buttons as if in express scribe, LOL :)

Thanks for the great tips Amy.  Now if only the audio bar would load for me I could actually try them.  2 nights in a row I don't get an audio bar so the file comes up and start counting down, but I can't get the audio because the bar is missing :(

No problem! I figure someone should jump in and help out since this 'help desk' has been a little 'dead' since it opened :)

As for the audio bar not loading, that could be due to a large number of things. Quicktate could be experiencing an issue that is beyond our control. Hopefully everything is working okay for you now. If not, the first few protocols that pop in my head to tell you to check on would be--

#1. Be sure you have the latest updates for Quicktime installed on your computer (just look for the Quicktime symbol in your control panel)

#2. Be sure your Firefox extensions and add on's are all updated. Click on your Firefox menu, go to add on's, then scroll down to "PLUGINS" and click on "CHECK TO SEE IF PLUGINS ARE UP TO DATE". Then scroll to 'EXTENSIONS' and click on the drop-down menu in the top right corner and choose the option "CHECK FOR UPDATES".

Then of course you should be sure to clean up your old files, cookies, web history, etc.... and trying logging back in to give it another try. I hope you get everything figured out soon! Let me know if I can help with anything, I don't mind at all!

After using the Quicktate interface for a couple of days, I agree it would be nice to have some features that made playback control possible while you're within the typing area.  Not much - perhaps an ctrl+space to pause/play, ctrl+[ to rewind, ctrl+] to fast forward, and ctrl+Enter to submit.  With use, clicking in and out of the text box to rewind, etc. has become easier, as is pressing space to play... but some small changes would greatly improve productivity for all involved.

Jfjch20.  I experience the same problem from time to time with the bar not loading and usually the problem will correct if I restart my computer.  However, if not, I uninstall QuickTime and reinstall and that takes care of the problem.  Good luck to you.  Thank you Amy for the info about the firefox plugin updates, did not know that.

I noticed that the player has changed and the hot keys I have been using for the longest time is no longer working (I'm using Firefox 3.6.3 version). I'm wondering if you guys are using any hot keys at the moment. Without the hot keys, typing jobs became slower...
